Jaime Gil Aluja y Lorenzo Gascón, President and vice President, respectively, of the Real Academia de Ciencias Económicas y Financieras (RACEF) have been unanimously appointed new board members of the Jean Monnet Foundation for Europe, founded by Jean Monnet in 1978 itself and currently chaired by José María Gil-Robles, former President of the European Parliament. It is based in Lausanne (Switzerland).
With 25 honorary doctorates and member of 12 scientific academies, Gil Aluja is the most successful Spanish economist. His studies on fuzzy logic and his theory of the effects forgotten, that developed with Arnold Kaufmann, have allowed to be among the candidates for the Nobel Prize in Economics.
In his long academic career, Gil Aluja adds a professional career that has taken him to the offices of top boss of SEAT, Codefinsa and Eurofinanza CEO and President of the Economic Commission Statuary of FC Barcelona, among other responsibilities. Between 2009 and 2012 he was president of the Supervisory Board of La Caixa. Currently he is a member of the boards of directors of the Société d'Autoroutes du Nord-Est de la France and VidaCaixa Grup.
Gascón was for 18 years President of the Spanish committee of the European League for Economic Cooperation and International vice President. He has served on the advisory board of Patronage Català Pro-Europe and the committee of independent experts appointed by the EC in December 1990 for corporate tax homogenization. He was dean of the Ilustre Colegio de Economistas de Cataluña y Baleares, international board member of the Information Agency United States, President of the Chamber of Commerce of the United States in Catalonia, vice President of the Fomento del Trabajo Nacional and member of the executive committee CEOE.
