The Nobel laureate Sir James Mirrlees will devote his inaugural speech at the Real Academia de Ciencias Económicas y Financieras of Spain (RACEF) as Corresponding Academician for United Kingdom to state their case on inequalities in the global economy. Will respond on behalf of RACEF its President, Jaime Gil Aluja.

Recognized by the Swedish Academy in 1996 for his contributions to the economic theory of incentives under conditions of asymmetric information, Mirrlees laid the foundation for his studies on the economic development of emerging countries in the global economy in the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where between 1962 and 1963 he ran development plans for India. He subsequently combined teaching periods between universities of Cambridge and Oxford without ever neglecting the study of economic inequality.
