The Real Academia de Ciencias Económicas y Financieras of Spain (RACEF) has participated in the the first Arab-Euro Conference on Higher Education, that met in Barcelona to a hundred presidents and other charges of more than 150 universities in some forty countries. The meeting was chaired by the Presidente of RACEF, Jaime Gil Aluja, the President of the University of Barcelona (UB) and Full Academician of RACEF Dídac Ramírez, and the Princess Sumaya of Jordan, President of the Jordan Royal Scientific Society and Corresponding Academician of RACEF.

The meeting, organized by the Association of Arab Universities (URAA) and the European University Association (EUA), took place in UB from May 30 to June 1 in order to create a joint framework of dialogue, mutual understanding, exchange of knowledge and cooperation between higher education institutions.

The opening ceremony was chaired by Dídac Ramirez and the Minister of Economy and Knowledge of the Generalitat of Catalonia, Andreu Mas-Colell; Secretary General of the URAA, Sultan Abu Orabi, the President of the EUA, Maria Helena Nazaré, and the Secretary General of the Union for the Mediterranean, Fathallah Sijilmassi. After this act, the Princess Sumaya of Jordan read the conference "Dialogue, understanding and knowledge exchange to improve education".
