Gil Aluja and Fainé, unanimously re-elected as President and Auditor of the RACEF

Academicians Jaime Gil Aluja and Isidro Fainé were today unanimously re-elected as President and Auditor, respectively, of the Real Academia de Ciencias Económicas y Financieras (RACEF) at the General Meeting which was held this afternoon in Barcelona.

Academy Member since 1976, Gil Aluja became President in February of 2002 and immediately undertook a task of modernization and projection of the Institution, today an international reference in the sphere of research. Under his mandate, the RACEF has promoted ambitious and successful projects such as the Observatory for Economic-Financial Research, aimed at the search for new markets for Spanish businesses, or the Pan-Hispanic Dictionary of Economy and Finance which the Royal Academy is drawing up in conjunction with the principal Spanish and Latin American universities.

Fainé, President of the Spanish Confederation of Savings Banks (CECA) and La Caixa, among other executive offices, was appointed as a Academy Member in December of 1992 introduced by Gil Aluja. Since then he has combined his professional activities and responsibilities with his constant dedication to the RACEF.
