Aldo Olcese, Academician of the Real Academia de Ciencias Económicas y Financieras (RACEF) has been distinguished by the magazine “Dirigentes” as Executive of the Year in the XXIII edition of these awards. Olcese received the award from the President of the CEOE, Gerardo Díaz Ferrán during a gala, which was held last night in Madrid.

The jury for the award considered his lengthy professional executive career and particularly his performance during 2009 as President of the Coalición de Creadores e Industrias Culturales y Audiovisuales of Spain {Coalition of Cultural and Audiovisual Creators and Industries} in the defence of Intellectual Property Rights and regulation of illegal downloading from Internet.

In his speech of thanks, the Member of the RACEF said, “that intellectual creation is the activity which makes human beings to be more free. It is the only thing that can be done with their sole force of will, sentiments and intelligence. It is something that nobody can prevent nor take away. It is the most sublime and genuine expression of individuality and freedom, which does not require capital means to be created, that which any person can develop on their own without the help of anybody or anything. It is the authentic value of Intellectual Property and for this reason defending and preserving it is the most democratic exercise that we can do in a modern, free and just society”.
