The researcher and professor at the Universitat de Barcelona Ana María Gil Lafuente has proposed amending the protocols and mechanisms of market analysis to prevent future crises, and in tackling its effects, to find the most effective solutions. "The use of classic mechanistic models in evolutionary context has been, in all cases, responsible for bad forecasts and bad results in the measures undertaken subsequently", Gil Lafuente considered during admission as Academician of the Real Academia de Ciencias Económicas y Financieras of Spain (RACEF) in a session that was held this afternoon in Barcelona.

The new Academician has advocated the introduction of forgotten effects theory, developed by Arnold Kaufman and Jaime Gil Aluja (1989), President of the RACEF, in prediction models. It has asked the academic community to fight against the crisis of humanism which, in his view, has increased the social consequences of the current financial and economic crisis: "Our society suffers from a severe economic crisis, but especially suffers from a humanist crisis starring major players in the markets". Has responded to his speech, on behalf of the RACEF, its Secretary and Full Academician Alfredo Rocafort.
