The Real Academia de Ciencias Económicas y Financieras celebrates 75 years of its revival

The Real Academia de Ciencias Económicas y Financieras of Spain (RACEF) celebrates this May the 75th aniversary of its revival and y pays tribute to its proponents, the Academician and the first President of the modern era, José María Vicens Corominas, and the Academicians and members of his first Board Santiago Marimón Aguilera and Jaime Torres Serra. [+]

The origins of the Royal Academy date back to the authorization granted Fernando VI in 1758 for the establishment of a Real Junta Particular de Comercio, the institution, regardless of the Administration, commissioned the first research on trade and business in Spain. An activity which in April 1787 led to the opening of the Academy of Commerce. After more than a century of vicissitudes, a group of professionals, teachers and researchers decided to revive this institution between 1929 and 1931.

This renewed momentum creates the foundation of the Sociedad Académica de Investigación Económico-Financiera, which in May 1940 approves the statutes under the name of Academia de Ciencias Económicas Financieras. In February 1943 it took place the solemn session of the Public Board at the headquarters of Ateneo Barcelonés and in 1958 the Ministry of Education gives its present name: Real Academia de Ciencias Económicas y Financieras of Spain.
