Isidro Fainé,  Full Academician of the Real Academia de Ciencias Económicas y Financieras (RACEF), was elected yesterday in Vienna President of the European Savings Banks Group (ESBG), which groups 900 organizations from 20 countries and represents 25% share of the banking business in the European Union. Fainé also chairs CaixaBank, third Spanish banking group and the Confederación Española de Cajas de Ahorros (CECA).

"From the ESBG we will continue to promote the retail banking model in the new Banking Union era, and reinforce our social commitment by becoming involved with the real problems of society, which are not properly covered by the public institutions, and by offering a wide range of banking services to the citizens in the lowest income groups to reduce financial exclusion", Fainé said.
