The Academician Manuel Castells, awarded the Balzan Prize
Manuel Castells, Full Academician of the Real Academia de Ciencias Económicas y Financieras of Spain (RACEF), has been awarded the annual prize of the International Balzan Foundation in the new discipline of sociology. [+]
The award, recognized as one of the most prestigious scientific research, is endowed with 750,000 Swiss francs. The winner must devote at least half of them to a youth project directed by himself.
The International Balzan Foundation was founded in 1957 in Lugano (Switzerland) in memory of journalist and media entrepreneur Eugenio Balzan and is based in Milan and Zurich.
