His Excellency Dr. José Barea Tejeiro, full member of the Racef, today in Valladolid received the International Award for Economy of the Cristóbal Gabarrón Foundation 2009 for his contribution and research centered on analysis of the performance of the public sector. The prize winner expressed his enormous satisfaction for the award and did not want to lose the opportunity for making a not very optimistic analysis of the situation of the Spanish economy.

The jury for the award, presided over by Her Excellency Dr. Josefa Fernández Arufe, Professor of Applied Economy and Dean of the Faculty of Economic Sciences and Business of the University of Valladolid, highlighted the fact that Professor Barea “has exercised a great theoretical and practical influence in the design of economic policies in general, and in Spanish budgeting policies in particular”. In conjunction with Dr. Fernández the jury was composed of His Excellency Mr. Tomás Villanueva Rodriquez, Second Vice-President and Counselor for Economy and Employment of the Junta de Castilla y León; Mr. Santiago Alonso Paniagua, General Manager of the Vocento Group; Mr. Antonio Catalán Díaz, President of AC Hotels; Mr. Lucas Hernández Pérez, General Manager of the Caja Duero, and Mr.  Antonio Miguel Méndez Pozo President of the Communications Group Promecal.
