The President of the Real Academia de Ciencias Económicas y Financieras (Racef), His Excellency Dr. Jaime Gil Aluja, and Academy Members His Excellency Dr Ricardo Fornesa and His Excellency Dr. José Barea, analysed the current scenario of crisis at the Rovira i Virgili University (URV) where they participated in a meeting on “The Current Economic Situation” organised by the Faculty of Economics and Business Management.

The session presided over by the Rector of the URV Dr. Francesc Xavier Grau and the Dean of the Faculty Dr. Glòria Barberá, completed a series of activities aimed at civil society and the academic community which were carried out throughout the academic year for contributing authorised opinions on the crisis. Dr. Barea, Professor Emeritus on the Public Treasury at the Autonomous University of Madrid opened the meeting with his paper on  “The role of the Public Sector in the current scenario of crisis”, followed by Dr. Fornesa, President of Criteria Caixa Corp, with his presentation on “How business can face up to the current situation?. Also taking part in the sessions was the Executive Vice-President of the Spanish Financial Futures Market Dr. Francisco de Oña. After these interventions Dr. Gil Aluja moderated a debate.
