Lorenzo Gascón, Vice-president of the Real Academia de Ciencias Económicas y Financieras of Spain (RACEF), participated in the international conference "Humanities and the Contemporary World", which was held in Podgorica (Montenegro) between 7 and 9 June. Gascón delivered at the opening session, chaired by the President of the Republic, Filip Vujanovic. The event was organized by the Montenegrin Academy of Sciences and Arts, whose President is Momir Djurovic, in turn Corresponding Academician of RACEF. Gacón intervened with the speech "Ethics and Contemporary World" and was responsible for chairing the last session.

The conference was attended by 90 scholars and teachers from 32 nationalities. National Academies had general represented 17 and 31 Universities. The level of the presentations and guest speakers was particularly high. Among the speakers include Cardinal Turkson, Chairman of the Council for Justice and Peace of Vatican; Emil Jurcan, Faculty of Orthodox Theology of Alba Iulia; Ionel Haiduc, President of the Romanian Academy; Zhelyu Zhelev, President of Bulgaria between 1990 and 1997; Markus Hilgert, from the University of Heidelberg; Valery Tishkov, from the Academy of Sciences of Russia; Fayl Gilbert, President of the Global Round Table in Brussels; Emil Constantinescu, President of Romania between 1996 and 2000; Professors Dassanowsky and Popovic, Segerstrale, Bochniarz, Nagan and Flournoy of American Universities of Chicago, Denver, Washington, Florida and Missouri, respectively; Raoul Weiler, from the University of Leuven; Garry Jacobs, Chairman of the World Academy of Art and Science, and Felix Unger, President of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts.
