The Catalan Government granted its highest award, the Cross of Sant Jordi (Saint George) [Creu de Sant Jordi] to Full Member of the Real Academia de Ciencias Económicas y Financieras (RACEF) Carles Gasòliba i Böhm for being one of the first Catalan deputies to form a part of the European Parliament between 1986 and 1987.

Gasòliba is one of the 29 personalities and 15 entities who received the award from the President of the Government, Artur Mas.  Also standing out among those receiving the award was the spokesman for CIU in the National Congress, Josep Antoni Duran Lleida, and the President of Abertis and of the Consulting Committee for Economic Reactivation, Salvador Alemany.
