Cabarrús Prize

The Real Academia de Ciencias Económicas y Financieras (RACEF) awards the yearly Francisco Cabarrús Prize to the economist, business-person or most outstanding actor in Spanish economy or finances. The prize recalls, by means of a statuette of the figure of the founder, in 1782, of the San Carlos Bank, first national bank in Spain and the originator of the Banco de España. The work takes its inspiration from a portrait which Francisco de Goya painted of Francisco Cabarrús and which is on show at the headquarters of the Banco de España in Madrid.
